American Duchess’ Newest Themed Voyage Takes Guests on a Race of the Ohio River from Memphis to Pittsburgh July 8-22

American Duchess - American Queen Steamboat CompanyAmerican Queen Steamboat Company (AQSC) announces “Racing on the River”, its newest themed voyage onboard the American Duchess cruising from Memphis, Tenn. to Pittsburgh, Pa. from July 8-22, 2019.

Guests will discover the charming attractions of quaint ports with racing-themed and history-filled shore excursions all culminating with the main event – a steamboat race between the American Duchess and the Belle of Cincinnati, the flagship vessel of BB Riverboats.

Racing on the River

Inspired by the heritage of small-towns and the nostalgia of America’s vibrant steamboating history, Racing on the River will take guests on a special voyage along the lower Mississippi, Ohio and Tennessee Rivers, touching six states and visiting 12 ports of call over the course of 16 days. Guests will have the opportunity to take part in racing-themed shore excursions at each port, including but not limited to:

• Louisville, KY | July 13: While in Louisville, guests can enjoy a private tour of the Kentucky Derby Museum and a historic walking tour of the Churchill Downs Racetrack. Later that day, there will be a one-time special event at the Kentucky Speedway in Sparta. Here, guests will watch one of the most competitive races in the Monster Energy NASCAR Cup Series Circuit – the Quaker State 400.

• Cincinnati, OH | July 15: The highlight of the journey will feature an exclusive old-fashioned steamboat race between the American Duchess, which happens to be the current Kentucky Derby Festival Great Steamboat Race® champion, and the Belle of Cincinnati. The race will take place from 3-5 p.m. At the completion of the race, the winner will be honored at the Trophy Ceremony.

• Maysville, KY | July 17: Guests are invited to join the American Duchess 3K Run-Walk Special Event through Maysville with a conclusion at the Old Pogue Distillery, where runners will receive a complimentary special post-race Bourbon Slush.
