The new cruise terminal at the Port of Kalundborg are ready for use. With a 500 metres long quay and 15 metres of water depth, even the largest cruise ships can easily call the new terminal in Kalundborg.
The new cruise terminal is easy to access, as the location in the fjord of Kalundborg means that tugs are not needed. The quay is equipped with 150 ton bollards for every 15 metres as well as heavy rubber fenders for every 15 metres.
The new cruise terminal is actually located outside the town of Kalundborg, but shuttle busses will be available for the passengers and crew members all day long during the stay in Kalundborg, and the distance from the cruise terminal to the centre of Kalundborg is only 10 minutes.
Kalundborg is located right next to the T-route, the deep water route connecting the North Sea and the Baltic Sea, making Kalundborg an obvious choice for the many cruises in the Baltic Sea.
Kalundborg is located at the Western part of Zealand only 100 km. from Copenhagen and the airport, and it only takes a bit more than an hour to get to Copenhagen Airport by bus. This means that Kalundborg can also be used as a turnaround port. The passengers can be transported to and from Copenhagen easily and without any problems.
The short distance to Copenhagen also makes it possible to arrange excursions to Copenhagen and Roskilde, near Copenhagen, and many cruise passengers coming to Kalundborg in fact choose to go to Copenhagen to see our wonderful capital.
Kalundborg and its surroundings have, however, a lot of attractions in itself. Kalundborg is one of the best preserved mediaeval towns in Denmark, and a lot of attractions can be visited in a short distance from Kalundborg. It should be mentioned that the beautiful nature of Roesnaes, which has been rewarded as one of 15 most beautiful nature sites in Denmark, is located just outside Kalundborg.
Denmark’s very first UNESCO-nominated geopark, Geopark Odsherred, is also located in a very short distance from Kalundborg. Here you can find some of Denmark’s most beautiful nature as well as one of Denmark’s finest Michelin restaurants, which uses raw ingredients from the area surrounding it.
Kalundborg is indeed a unique destination, and an ideal future homeport for Cruise Lines in the Baltic region.
