Homeport Operations in Catania Cruise Port

The port of CataniaCatania Cruise Port welcomed the Italian Costa Fascinosa as the last call of the 2018 season. Almost 600 guests embarked from Catania Cruise Port, to begin their holiday on the Costa ship.

Since the first call of the Costa Fascinosa, Catania Cruise Port had smooth and punctual operations, providing its services to hundreds of cruise passengers.
As we close the season, Costa Fascinosa with calls since April, Catania Cruise Port will certainly capture this moment as a seasonal record that aids to further cruise traffic development in Catania, the foot of Etna and the land of cruisers.

With direct flights at the nearby Fontanarossa, Catania Cruise Port welcomed more than 40 passengers from Russia while we played their national hymn.

This is a strong showcase that with an operative agreement between the cruise port and airport could mean a turning point for the cruise tourism, enhancing the potential of Catania.

We can affirm that a real opportunity does exist that Catania’s port can become a Homeport (start and end port), with the arrival and departure of thousands of passengers at the same time, many of which will most likely choose to extend their holiday before or after their cruise.

With the end of a successful season in 2018, we are looking at a growth trend with a positive balance for the year 2019. We will have increases in both number of calls, as well as transit passengers.

Catania Cruise Port joined Global Ports Holding (GPH) in 2016.
