“Street Ball” tournament at Cagliari Cruise Port

Original and innovative. These are the adjectives best attributed to the event that will take place today at the Cagliari Cruise Port. Cagliari Cruise Port will hold its own “Street Ball” tournament between the crews of MSC Divina and MSC Opera which will be moored at the Rinascita Pier.

“Street Ball” tournament was born in the USA that quickly spread all over the world and is played among 16 teams each made of three players.

Under the patronage of Cagliari’s Municipality, a productive collaboration from the Port Authority System of Sardinia Sea, the passionate enthusiasm of MSC Cruises and real support from many sponsors, the event will be displayed to the Authorities and Press during a Meeting onboard the MSC Divina, along with the participation of some of the company Managers.

Antonio Di Monte, General Manager of Cagliari Cruise Port commented:
“I revealed some information about the event during the last Seatrade Cruise Med, held in Lisbon last week, and I can confirm that the Cruise Lines appreciated the idea. This inspired us to consider this event as the first of a long series of a sports tournaments tailored for cruise crew. With a wordplay, we called it CAGLIARI CREW SPORTS”.

“MSC Cruises take cares not only of his guests, but also of those who work onboard, because they are considered part of a big Family” declared Gianni Pilato, Area Manager of the Company. “For this reason, from the beginning we did our best in order that this leisure moment could be realized with the maximum involvement from both crews. Each ship is equipped with a lot of crew’s areas dedicated at spare time, so adding more leisure moments, managing sport tournaments on ashore it’s definitely one of the best way to get friendship stronger and to live unforgettable moments for all people that work onboard”.
