The Saga Pearl II (Dec. 2013, photo Ivan T. at Wikipedia)Nurture mind, body and soul during Saga Pearl II’s new Iceland Discovery cruise which includes five calls to the island of hot springs, geysers and waterfalls.

In breath-taking scenery guests can opt for a rejuvenating dip in hot mineral waters, join hikes over volcanic terrain or go kayaking in a pristine fjord. The feel-good factor continues with plenty of opportunities to look out for wildlife, including whales and puffins.

On board Saga Pearl II the focus is on well-being and guests can join yoga classes, listen to motivational speakers, visit the spa, take a dip in the pool and enjoy a sauna.

The first port of call to Iceland is Eskifjörður, a charming seaside village where guests can take an invigorating walk over ground which has been shaped by volcanic eruptions and continual seismic activity.

Akureyri is next on the itinerary and from here guests can visit Myvatn Nature Baths to relax in the mineral-rich waters where rising steam is created by a deep fissure in the earth’s surface. Another option is to go whale-watching in Eyjafjördur Fjord, a feeding ground for blue-fin, humpback, minke and sei whales.

The next stop is Isafjördur, a harsh but stunning landscape where guests can visit the Arctic Fox Research Centre or opt to go kayaking in the beautiful fjord.

At Grundafjördur, where the sea cliffs, volcanoes and lava fields inspired Jules Verne’s Journey to the Centre of the Earth, optional excursions include a boat tour to see puffiins on Melrakkaey Island.

Reykjavik is the world’s most northerly capital city and from here guests can choose to take a dip in the Blue Lagoon’s rejuvenating mineral waters or join a whale-watching boat trip to Faxafloi Bay.

Further ports of call on this 16-night cruise include Kirkwall on the Orkney Islands; Lerwick, in the remote Shetland Islands; historic Lisahally for Derry, and Dublin which features a fun optional tour to the Abbey Tavern for a traditional lunch washed down with Guinness – and some lively music and dance entertainment.

16 nights from £3,916 departing from Dover on July 12, 2018. Price includes UK travel package, all meals and entertainment, choice of table wines at lunch and dinner, afternoon tea, 24-hour room service, welcome cocktail party, unlimited tea and coffee in selected venues, free wifi, all on-board gratuities, porterage, free shuttle bus to nearest town centre (when possible and when the ship is berthed more than 500 yards away), optional travel insurance and additional cancellation rights, or a discount if passenger has own insurance.
