The Andrés Mira Award was given for the second time. It was awarded to Jose Llorca, president of Ports of Spain.
The creation of this prize aims to recognize the work or contribution to the cruise sector of an individual, company or project that is considered outstanding in the sector without having established a periodicity, place of delivery, or previous nominations.
The jury awarding the prize consists of members of CruisesNews Media Group, founded by Andres himself. The first Andrés Mira Award was presented in the fourth edition of the Excellence Cruises Awards held in Malaga in 2013.
The gala was attended by Cristina Ramos, winner of the TV show, “Got Talent”, and was directed and presented by the comedian and showman Sr. Corrales.
The Cruise Excellence Awards are the result of a macro survey conducted amongst national cruise passengers. This fact gives a special value to the results.
This edition was promoted by the Port Authority and the City of Cartagena and sponsored by Estrella de Levante, BC Agency, Autobuses Vidal, Cruises Atlantic Islands, Bags&go, AgenciaMarítimaBlazquez, La Asociación de Empresarios de ActividadesMarítimas (ASEAM) de Cartagena y Mediterranean Unique Experience.
The city of Cartagena is enjoying significant development within the sector, due to the consolidation of the Port of Cartagena as one of the Spanish destinations that have seen rapid growth in recent years. In addition, in 2016, Cartagena debuted as a cruise embarkation port. For 2017, Cartagena will have more than 150 calls, more than 230,000 passengers and the inauguration of a new access to the cruise terminal that has just recently been expanded and remodeled.
The Cruise Excellence Awards, whose first edition was held in 2008 in Barcelona, is a brand of CruisesNews Media Group, organizer of the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and editor of CruisesNews and TopRiver magazines.
