50 and fabulous with Saga: Guess which surprising celebrities turn 50 in 2017

Every year the Saga Travel team reports which celebrities will be reaching ‘the Big 50’ and 2017 will see plenty! These well-known faces will join the exclusive club of over 50s and will be eligible to experience Saga’s selection of global adventures – proving there is life and excitement after 50 – you’ll be surprised by the names!

It’s all fantasy, but exciting to think these household names could soon be relaxing on a paradise island getaway or enjoying Saga’s award-winning cruises and tours.

We’ve chosen cruises which might suit some of the stars born in 1967 – so, drum roll, in date order:

Emily Watson OBE
January 14, 1967
British actress Emily Watson has starred in dozens of films including The Theory of Everything and War Horse. She is a supporter of several children’s charities so we could take her to Cambodia to see how the construction of a new school in the village of Prasat Char is coming along. The Saga Charitable Trust is supporting the charity Globalteer’s project which will create four classrooms. We’d combine the visit with a Voyage on the Mekong cruise so she could relax after her busy schedule.
– 14 nights from £3199 departing London Heathrow on July 12, September 6, October 4 and November 1, 2017

Rhys Ifan
July 22, 1967
Nobody can forget Rhys, who played Spike in the romantic comedy Notting Hill, opening the front door to greet the press pack wearing a pair of saggy grey Y-fronts. He is a king of drama so we think he’d love a fun-filled Saga cruise where he could go glamping under the stars to watch the Northern Lights.
– 15 nights from £2,769 departing Portsmouth on February 14, 2018

Jason Statham
July 26, 1967
We think the all-action actor, former fashion model and diver (he was in the British National Diving Team and finished 12th in the World Championships in 1992) could take time out to completely relax on the Secrets of Southern France cruise – to not only immerse himself in the culture and cuisine of France but visit a Provencal ranch to discover how the Camargue cowboys help preserve herds of black bulls.
– ix nights from £1,799 departing London Gatwick to Montpelier on April 7, 2017

David Guetta
November 7, 1967
Top French DJ, David plays turntables everywhere from Ibiza to Las Vegas. He loves music and dance so the Cape Verde islands could be the inspiration for his next track if he sails Saga Pearl II’s Canary Islands and Cape Verde cruise. The islands are 300 miles off the coast of West Africa and home to a unique Creole culture and the wonderful sound of Morna music. Cape Verdean Cesarie Evora collected a Grammy for her melodic morna songs, which have become the islands’ musical gift to the world.
– 21 nights from £2,799‡ departing from Southampton on January 7, 2017

‡ Fare shown is per person based on two people sharing an Inside Guarantee, where you will receive your cabin number shortly before sailing or at embarkation, and not at the time of booking.
