ASEAN Unveils New Brand ‘Cruise Southeast Asia’

The Association of South East Asian Nations (ASEAN) has unveiled its newest cruise brand, Cruise Southeast Asia.

The brand was launched at the recent ASEAN Tourism Forum (ATF) in Manila and further enforces the region’s position as one of the world’s top cruising destinations.

In the Southeast Asia region alone there are approximately 25,000 islands, many of which are located within a short sailing time of each other. Michelle Chan from Singapore Tourism Board anticipates the new brand will raise interest in cruising as a way to discover the region’s diversity of culture, history and
heritage.

In preparation for the new brand and anticipated increase in footfall of cruise passengers, ASEAN members have already begun planning and developing new cruise facilities.
Indonesia plans to develop at least four new ports including Jakarta, Bali, Medan and Surabaya. Cambodia is working on plans to expand Sihanoukville port facilities and build new ones at Kampot city.
