Cruise Lines International Association Debuts Water Wanderlust, 2016 Media Open House

Cruise Lines International Association (CLIA) hosted Water Wanderlust, the 2016 Media Open House on January 7, 2016, in New York.

Water Wanderlust is an opportunity for the cruise industry to come together and showcase the variety of cruise ships, new offerings and destinations available to travelers to key media and digital influencers.

More than 200 guests attended the event featuring a gallery showcasing beautiful cruise ships as artwork and bringing to life that there truly is a cruise for every travel style and budget.

All 28 CLIA Global Cruise Line Members were represented and almost all were on hand to meet and engage with media and digital influencers. The Media Open House is part of a strategy to secure quality exposure for the cruise industry, build media and online influencer relationships and position CLIA as the cruise industry information resource.

“When you look at the variety of cruise vacations available today, it truly brings to life the diversity and evolution of our industry,” said Lorri Christou, Senior Vice President, Strategic Marketing and Communications, CLIA. “The Media Open House brings together the cruise lines to collectively showcase the exceptional experiences available to travelers today and elevate the cruise industry among new audiences.”

The event also brought to life the exceptional beverage and culinary options available on cruise ships. Guests were treated to a menu of featured cocktail and food samplings based upon recipes contributed by cruise lines.

A total of more than 150 consumer and trade media representatives and digital lifestyle, travel and fashion influencers were in attendance.
The event complements CLIA’s annual State of the Cruise Industry Outlook which revealed global cruise travel is continuing to grow and evolve at a record pace. The industry shows no signs of slowing down, with 24 million passengers expected to sail in 2016. CLIA Cruise Line Members are also scheduled to debut 27 new ocean, river and specialty ships in 2016 for a total investment of more than $6.5 billion in new ocean vessels alone.
