MedCruise discusses the future of cruise in the Med @ International Cruise Summit 2015
MedCruise representatives and members promoted cruise activities in the Med and its adjoining seas during the fifth edition of the International Cruise Summit (ICS) held in Madrid, Spain, 18-19 November.
The event was held under the auspices of MedCruise.
MedCruise President Carla Salvadό was among the keynote speakers and joined the panelists discussing the future of the cruise industry in Europe – Mediterranean.
Salvadό highlighted that during the past years MedCruise Ports have recorded a significant growth in terms of cruise traffic. This is despite the fact that the very same period the region experienced conditions of a turbulent economic and political environment. As she explained, cruise traffic numbers for 2015 and 2016 in Med ports are also expected to be on the rise.
Discussing the growing Asian Cruise market, MedCruise President noted that this growth forms a huge opportunity for the Med, offering it the potential to become a popular cruise destination for Chinese tourists, both in the medium and long term.
Airam Díaz, MedCruise Director of Projects and Studies and Commercial Manager of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz of Tenerife, took also part in the panels of the summit.
Among the MedCruise representatives and members included in the speakers list were Jorge Nasarre (Balearic Islands), Raúl Barraso (Huelva), Ceylan Erzi (Kusadasi/Bodrum/Antalya), Luis de Carvalho (B&A Europe), Serafín Blázquez (Intercruises).
The event organised by CruisesNews was attended by 300 cruise industry professionals forming one of the main international discussion forums in the sector.
