Set sail for sunshine on a winter escape to the Canary Islands with Fred. Olsen Cruise Lines

The BraemarFred. Olsen Cruise Lines is offering guests the chance to escape the cold, dark winter nights of the UK and set sail on a ‘Canaries Fly-Cruise’, with prices starting from just £699 per person.

Fred. Olsen’s 929-guest ship Braemar will be offering a programme of five sunshine cruises, departing from Santa Cruz in Tenerife, starting with a 13-night ‘Canaries & Madeira Winter Warmth’ adventure on 30th October 2015 and concluding with a 15-night ‘Canaries Christmas & Caribbean New Year’ cruise on 23rd December 2015.

In addition, guests can choose to upgrade to Fred. Olsen’s ‘all-inclusive’ package on selected drinks, from just £10 per person, per night.

– Braemar’s 14-night M1531 ‘Canaries & the Cape Verde’ cruise, ex Santa Cruz, Tenerife on 26th November 2015. Prices start from £899 per person.

After enjoying time in Santa Cruz, Tenerife, guests will arrive in San Sebastian, the picturesque capital of La Gomera. Also known as the ‘Isla Colombina’, for its historic links to Christopher Columbus, legend has it that the famous explorer stopped off here on his way to America.

Next comes Praia, in the Cape Verde Islands. Guests can visit the Ethnographic Museum to admire the many artefacts on display, or take a tour to the small town of Cidade Velha, an area full of historical and architectural interest.

Braemar then makes another call in the Cape Verde Islands, this time to Mindelo. Here, guests can relax on the beaches, explore the Camara Square, which has a historic church and a colourful vegetable market, or take a 4×4 jeep safari through the volcanic landscapes.

Guests can then spend a day exploring Arrecife, in Lanzarote. Relax in the glorious sunshine or, for something a little more adventurous, experience a camel ride through the hissing rocks of Fire Mountain, in the Timanfaya National Park.

A call into Agadir,in Morocco, is next. A winter sun favourite, with over sunshine 300 days a year, guests can relax on the long stretches of golden sand, or wander through the modern boulevard, which has plenty of cafés and restaurants.

Braemar then spends a day in Las Palmas, in Gran Canaria. Soak up the mix of Renaissance, Gothic and Neo-Classical architecture, or relax by the sand dunes and palm trees of Maspalomas Beach.

After a call into the capital of La Palma, Santa Cruz, where guests can visit the fantastic Renaissance-style Church of El Salvador and the Church of Santo Domingo, Braemar returns to Santa Cruz, Tenerife, for flights back to the UK.

First stop on this sunshine cruise is Las Palmas, in Gran Canaria, for an overnight stay, before arriving in Morocco’s exotic Agadir. Guests can visit the Museé Municipal for an insight into the pre-earthquake history of the city.

Next is a stop in the town of Puerto del Rosario, on the island of Fuerteventura, which has a selection of family-owned bars serving tapas, local wines and Canarian cuisine.

Braemar will then cruise to Arrecife, in Lanzarote, for an overnight stay. Take a tour to the Rancho Texas Park to swim with Sea Lions, or explore the Los Volcanoes Nature Park, together with the Timanfaya National Park, to learn about the spectacular eruptions that took place between 1730 and 1736 and in 1824.

Guests will then say overnight in Funchal, the capital of Madeira. This ‘Garden Island’ has a timeless charm, which is delightfully enhanced by a warm, year-round climate and the beautiful colours and fragrant scents of subtropical flowers and fruit. Explore the stunning landscapes by way of walking trails along the unique levada irrigation network, and sample the island’s famous wine.

Guests can then enjoy a day in Santa Cruz, La Palma. Take a tour to the town of Fuencaliente, which offers some amazing panoramic views of the San Antonio volcano and neighbouring island, El Hierro.

Next is a day on the stunning island of La Gomera. Starting in San Sebastian, guests can explore the impressive Hotel Jardin Tecina, owned by the Olsen family, which is set on a cliff top just 500 metres above Playa de Santiago, and commands breathtaking views over the ocean.

Braemar will then set sail for Santa Cruz, Tenerife, where guests can enjoy an overnight stay, before flying back to the UK.

Prices include accommodation, all meals and entertainment on board and port / airport taxes, plus return flights from London Gatwick or Manchester and flight transfers, where applicable.
