Adventure Canada Named Finalist for 2015 Nature Inspiration Awards

The Canadian Museum of Nature has selected Adventure Canada as a finalist for the second annual Nature Inspiration Awards in the category of Corporation.

The awards celebrate individuals, non-profits and companies that encourage Canadians to engage with the natural world through their own innovative projects, accomplishments and demonstrated leadership practices. Adventure Canada is built on a love and great respect for nature.
The family-owned company promotes and protects genuine connections with the natural environment in every region where they travel, from the eastern shores of Newfoundland to the northern reaches of Nunavut.

Adventure Canada aims to operate on a local level. On both land- and ship-based tours, the company has an exceptionally high ratio of local guides and expedition leaders, including well-respected community members and resource staff. These individuals possess an intimate knowledge of the natural environment and an enthusiasm to share its complexities and beauty with guests.

In 1996, Adventure Canada established the Discovery Fund to support and strengthen sustainable initiatives and environmental projects in the regions they travel. A portion of each passenger’s booking fee is allocated to these practices, and to date, Adventure Canada has raised over two million dollars to directly assist local and national organizations involved with socioeconomic community development, along with environmental and wildlife preservation.

Adventure Canada and the Discovery Fund have been active supporters of the following key organizations: Project North, Atlantic Whales, Unikkausivut, National Inuit Youth Council, The Walrus Foundation, Inuit Tapiriit Kanatami, the Royal Canadian Geographical Society, and the Students On Ice Foundation.

The Nature Inspiration Awards winners will be announced at a gala held on November 4, 2015, at the Canadian Museum of Nature in downtown Ottawa. Winners will receive a $5,000 donation to support a project of their choice.
