Newport ready to welcome first cruise ship, American Queen Voyages’ Ocean Navigator, in two years
The CEO of Discover Newport, Evan Smith, said Monday that a cruise ship is coming to the city for the first time in two years.
“A lot of these folks are from all over the world, all over the United States, and when they get off they like to visit our cultural attractions. They come see our recreational tours. They go shopping. They even eat in our restaurants, so they’re infusing a lot of money into the local economy,” said Smith.
Smith said it’s the boutique ship the Ocean Navigator and will bring more than 90 tourists to the area.
