The Cruise Excellence Awards are the result of a macro survey conducted amongst national cruise passengers. This fact gives a special value to the results.
This edition was promoted and sponsored by the Port Authority and the City of Cartagena, the Murcia Region Tourism Institute as well the Maritime Activities Business Association of Cartagena, Touristic Train Almirante, Sureste Incoming, Cruises Atlantic Islands, Agencia Maritima Blazquez Cruises, and Cruise Friends Shops.
The choice of the city is due to the consolidation of the Port of Cartagena as one of the Spanish destinations that have seen rapid growth in recent years. In 2016, Cartagena debuted as a cruise embarkation port, and in 2017 the new access to the expanded cruise terminal was inaugurated. For 2018, Cartagena will have more than 140 calls with more than 200,000 passengers.
The Cruise Excellence Awards, whose first edition was held in 2008 in Barcelona, is a brand of CruisesNews Media Group, organizer of the International Cruise Summit in Madrid and editor of CruisesNews and TopRiver magazines.
